The Spirit of Duluth Dinner & Film Series:  Sharing food, film & stories to celebrate Duluth.

Spirit of Duluth Dinner & Film Series presents: “Black Is” African American Film, Cuisine, & Culture.
“Black Is” is the third gathering in our ‘Spirit of Duluth Dinner & Film Series’ at Zeitgeist. Join us on Monday, December 11th for an evening curated by some incredible Duluthians who are from the local African American community. For one evening only enjoy the secret, and legendary, “Doc Witherspoon’s fried chicken” accompanied by homemade dressing, oven-baked mac & cheese and homemade desserts. We’ll then show the acclaimed film “I Am Not Your Negro” in the Zeitgeist Teatro at 7:30pm. Following the film, everyone is invited to join us in the atrium for coffee, cookies and post-film discussion.

There are two ways to experience this exciting evening: (1) DINNER & FILM Enjoy a specially-prepared and curated meal centered around African American cuisine and featuring the legendary “Doc Witherspoon’s fried chicken” at 5:30pm in the Zeitgeist Cafe and then attend “I Am Not Your Negro” at 7:30pm in the Teatro. (IMPORTANT: If you purchase a dinner ticket, it automatically INCLUDES a ticket to the film, so please do not register for both.) OR (2) FILM ONLY “I Am Not Your Negro” at 7:30pm in the Zeitgeist Teatro. Attending the film screening is free ($5 suggested donation at the door) but seating is limited so you’ll need to reserve a free ticket below. Please only reserve a ticket if you are sure that you will attend that evening. Following the film, everyone is invited to join us in the atrium for coffee, tea and dessert and post-film discussion.

SAVE THE DATES FOR FUTURE ‘SPIRIT OF DULUTH’ EVENTS
“Black Is” is part of Zeitgeist’s ‘Spirit of Duluth Dinner & Film Series’ and every month, from October through April 2018, we invite you to experience the culture and insights of some inspiring and truly original Duluth residents through food, film, and personal stories. Through sharing a meal, watching a film and engaging in conversation every month we’ll connect people who might not otherwise meet.

Each event will be uniquely organized and hosted by Duluthians who represent the culture being highlighted and will feature a specially crafted gourmet dinner curated by the host that will allow guests to experience the taste of the cuisine as they hear the story behind it. At Zeitgeist we know that Duluth is stronger as a creative, diverse community. We’re committed to building connections between people of different cultures and encourage you to join us for what is sure to be a fun, informative and culturally rich experience.
