Safer 6th Avenue East Public Input Session #2

October 12 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The City of Duluth is gathering input on Phase 1 Resurfacing of 6th Avenue East in 2024. We’re thrilled the City has committed to a 4-to-3 lane conversion which will be a major safety enhancement for all users. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, lane conversions reduce crashes by 19-47%. Of the 244 crashes in the last 10 years between 2nd & Mesaba, over 20% of those crashes would not have occurred with a 3-lane road. Learn more about the benefits of lane conversion at youtube.com/watch?v=Rs7jHvh7v-4.
We want to ensure the City knows there’s community-wide support for the 4-to-3 lane conversion! AND we want to advocate for crossing enhancements to make 6th Avenue East safer to cross. Crossing enhancements such as pedestrian refuges, high visibility crosswalks, and leading pedestrian intervals are some of the main things community members have voiced as major needs on 6th Avenue East. Learn about these crossing enhancements at ZeitgeistArts.com/Community/Safer-6th-Ave.
Join us for this second of three public input sessions at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (219 6th Avenue East) to review the City’s proposed designs for Phase 1 Resurfacing. This is an open house format with a chance to ask questions and offer feedback. City Staff will give a short presentation at 5:30pm. Food and childcare will be provided.
