INTERMISSION IS OVER
Announcing our 2021 season
DADDY LONG LEGS
Daddy Long Legs
Directed by Peter Froehlingsdorf. Starring Amelia Barr and Jace LeGarde.
Based on the classic novel which inspired the 1955 movie starring Fred Astaire—a beloved tale in the spirit of Jane Austen, the Brontë Sisters, and “Downton Abbey”—this heartwarming Cinderella story about a witty and winsome young woman and her mysterious benefactor has charmed audiences of all ages from Los Angeles to London. Critics are cheering: Daddy Long Legs has “echoes of She Loves Me and top-notch performances” and “is one of the most enthralling, entertaining and moving love stories on the American musical theater stage.”
Starring our very own Amelia Barr, last seen as Alison Bechdel in Renegade’s sold out production of FUN HOME.
Directed by Tom Isbell. Written & Performed by Deryck Hak
The story of a young Cambodian-American as he comes to terms with his family’s experiences in the Cambodian Genocide, his own sexual identity, and his place between cultures. An award-winning, one-person play that asks the question: What’s it really like to grow up as an Asian-American in the United States? This production directly empowers our local creators to bring new life and new work to our very own community.
DULUTH STORY PROJECT
November 18–December 4
Duluth Story Project
Starting in the spring of 2021, the first season of the Duluth Story Project will feature our historically underrepresented community members (specifically BIPOC, elders, and LGBTQIA+) with stories centered on their experience navigating COVID-19 and the racial injustice and social unrest of 2020. These stories will be gathered by Renegade and performed by Duluth artists and community members alike.
We’ll show our community the progress of this work throughout the summer months and end with a Renegade mainstage production in November of 2021.
It is the mission of Renegade Theater Company to entertain, enlighten, and inspire our community with bold, imaginative storytelling, brave new works, and unfailing support for the area’s talented artists.
